Your OZtrail awning is there to make camping easier - providing shade, shelter and a comfortable place to relax when you’re out exploring. But when the trip is over, do you really want to leave that camping gear permanently attached to your 4WD?
With RacksBrax, OZtrail awnings can become part of a much more flexible setup: fast on for adventure and fast off for everyday driving and storage.
RacksBrax is compatible with OZtrail’s Blockout 2 x 2.5 m, Blockout 3 x 2.5 m, Blockout 270 2m and Blockout 270 2.5m awnings, with the appropriate HD or XD Hitch configuration depending on the model.
For the OZtrail Blockout 2 x 2.5m and Blockout 3 x 2.5m awnings, RacksBrax specifies the HD Hitch.
The Blockout 2 x 2.5 m requires a minimum of two mounting points, using the RacksBrax HD Hitch Standard Double, while the Blockout 3 x 2.5 m requires three mounting points and uses the HD Hitch Triple. OZtrail’s supplied awning brackets can be used with the RacksBrax HD Hitch range.
This gives you the most practical way to quickly remove your OZtrail awning without repeatedly undoing nuts and bolts.
For the larger OZtrail Blockout 270 awnings, RacksBrax specifies the XD Hitch.
The Blockout 270 2m uses a minimum of two mounting points and the XD Hitch Double, while the Blockout 270 2.5m uses three mounting points and the XD Hitch Triple. Again, OZtrail’s supplied brackets are compatible with the RacksBrax XD Hitch range.
This distinction is important: HD and XD are separate RacksBrax systems designed around different awning configurations and mounting geometries. The correct hitch should always be selected for the specific OZtrail awning model.
Once correctly installed, RacksBrax allows your OZtrail awning to be removed without repeatedly dismantling the bracket and pesky nuts and bolts.
That makes it far more realistic to take the awning off when you’re not camping.
And the hitch body itself is manufactured from UV-stabilised glass-reinforced nylon. Unlike a conventional steel hitch body, it cannot rust. RacksBrax also uses stainless-steel hardware across all hitch systems.
No tools. No rust on the hitch body. Less hassle.
Your awning is an investment, so why leave it permanently exposed to Australian sun, rain, dust and road grime?
Removing your OZtrail awning between trips gives you the opportunity to clean it, dry it properly and store it somewhere protected so you get the longest life possible from your camping gear.
RacksBrax also offers HD and XD Wall Mounts, allowing awnings to be removed from the vehicle and stored on a wall when they’re not being used. The OZtrail Works With guide specifically lists these wall-mount options for the OZtrail Blockout awnings.
RacksBrax quick release hitches aren’t simply designed to make awning removal convenient. The system is engineered around defined load limits and mounting requirements.
The HD and XD Hitch ranges have a maximum specified load of 20 kg per load point, meaning the required number of hitches needs to be considered alongside the awning’s mounting points and the load requirements of the roof rack and vehicle.
That combination of quick release convenience, engineered materials, defined load ratings and purpose-specific configurations makes RacksBrax a smart addition to a OZtrail setup.
Whether you’re running an OZtrail Blockout 2 x 2.5m, Blockout 3 x 2.5m, Blockout 270 2m or Blockout 270 2.5m, RacksBrax provides an HD or XD Hitch solution for each of these models.
HD for the smaller Blockout awnings.
XD for the larger 270° Blockout awnings.
No tools. No rust on the hitch body. Fast on. Fast off.
Your OZtrail awning is built for camping. RacksBrax makes it easier to decide when it actually needs to be on your vehicle.
